New MD for Rössing

The Chairman of Rössing Uranium, Mr Charles Kauraisa, announced that the Managing Director, Mr David Salisbury, would be transferring from Rössing to take up a position in the Rio Tinto global business improvement programme, Improving Performance Together, in London as from on 15 September 2004.

Mr Kauraisa also announced that the company’s current General Manager Commercial, Mr Mike Leech, will take over as the Managing Director of Rössing Uranium Limited as from 15 September 2004.

The appointment of Mr Leech is a milestone in the history of the company as he will be the first Namibian national to take up the position as Managing Director.

He joined Rössing in 1982 and has 19 years experience in various accounting and business administration positions at Rössing, as well as having spent three years as the Commercial Manager of Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited in the UK, which is like Rössing, in the Rio Tinto Group. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators.

Mike and his wife, Vera, and their two children live in Swakopmund.
