Rotary International DG visits Walvis Bay

During a dinner held at the Atlantic Hotel on 30 September 2004, the Rotary International District Governor, June Webber, visited the Rotary Club of Walvis Bay. The visit formed part of an annual visit to all Rotary Clubs in Namibia by the District Governor. Assistant District Governor Ken Howes from the Rotary Club of Windhoek was also part of the visiting Rotary delegation.

The purpose of the visit to the Rotary Club of Walvis Bay was for the District Governor to meet with the Club membership, to discuss common Rotary and Rotary International issues and to identify and plan for Rotary Projects for the year ahead. In her welcoming address the District Governor explained the link between Clubs, Districts and Rotary International, the Rotary International Theme of President Glen Estess being "Celebrate Rotary", the upcoming Rotary International Centenary, Rotary International and District Projects and other related Rotary issues.

During the visit District Governor June Webber also had the opportunity to visit the TB Isolation Ward at the State Hospital, the Centenary Project of the Rotary Club of Walvis Bay. The TB Isolation Ward at the State Hospital is a project undertaken in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Social Services with the generous support and sponsorship of Cadilu Fishing, Ombaye Fishing, Namcoast and Namcoast Fishing.

The Rotary Club of Walvis Bay will Celebrate Rotary with the Walvis Bay community in the most meaning way possible, following the Rotary Motto – SERVICE ABOVE SELF.
