Sunday 26th of December 2004 The Ohlthaver & List group will pump millions of Namibiadollars into the extension of the popular Wernhil shopping centre next February. During Phase I Pick ‘n Pay will be enlarged by 1,500 square metres and some 260 additional parking bays will be created. According to Sven Thieme, chairman and CEO of the O&L Group, the second phase will start in the middle of 2005 and will extend the shopping centre form its current 18 000 sq.m. to 32 000 sq.m. This will provide for more retail shops and a further 522 parking bays. Thieme told reporters Tuesday that a feasibility study was concluded before the company decided on the expansion. He would not disclose the amount of money spent on this project. The O&L has just a few months ago reached an agreement with Fruit & Veg City, which opened this month opposite Wernhil after converting the old SKW hall into a grocery store. O&L remains as owner of the property. Last year, the Group inaugurated the Werner List Haus behind the Levinson Arcade. That investment cost around N$ 80 million which O&L raised partially with loans. |
