The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting noted with concern that both the public and private media referred to the Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshikoto and Oshana regions as the "4 O-regions" in their reporting on the recently held Presidential, National Assembly and Regional council elections.

The Ministry wants to remind the media that Cabinet, at its 10th meeting in May 2001 directed that the use of the term "4 O-regions" should be discontinued when referring to the regions mentioned above. Cabinet recommended that these regions should be mentioned by name when reference is made to them. These are not the only regions in Namibia whose names start with the letter "O". Other regions whose names start with an "O" are Omaheke and Otjizondjupa.
