The Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Chief Justice Peter S. Shivute, said in a media release on Wednesday that President Nujoma had suspended Mr Justice Pio Teek from office. Justice Teek was suspended on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission and in accordance with the provisions of Article 84 (5) of the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia.

Justice Teek was suspended pending the outcome of investigations or enquiry to be instituted by the Judicial Service Commission to determine whether he should be removed from office as a Judge. The suspension is with immediate effect.
