Namibia will be the second English-speaking country in Africa to host trade policy courses of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The courses last 3 months and will be conducted at UNAM and possible for three years, according to Andrew Ndishishi, permanent secretary at the ministry of trade. The courses are usually offered once a year to government officials dealing with trade issues and the WTO. Spin-offs for UNAM would be renting out facilities to the lecturers and the strengthening of its lecturing capacity, apart from earning increased reputation. The University of Namibia now also offers six pilot courses via internet, also known as online or e-learning, this academic year. The faculty of humanities and social science and some courses of the science faculty will be offered. This will make studying cheaper for students, according to communications director at UNAM, Edwin Tjiramba.
