Namibia host to World Youth AGM

Over 300 international delegates from 80 countries will flock to Windhoek for the annual general meeting of the World Assembly of Youth, which is held for the first time in Africa.

The National Preparatory Committee meeting for the World Assembly of Youth’s 14th General Assembly said all was set for the historic meeting of
youth leaders and national youth councils.

The General Assembly will last from 20 to 23 February. The theme of the General Assembly is "Youth rise to meet the HIV/AIDS Challenge". President Sam Nujoma will open the conference on Monday. The National Preparatory Committee meeting, which was chaired by National Youth Council of Namibia secretary general Pohamba Shifeta, finalised all technical and logistical aspects for the gathering. The World Youth Assembly Secretary General, Donald Charum-bira of Zimbabwe and administration officer André Young are already in the country.
