Regional Tourism for Caprivi Area Saturday 19th of February 2005 Experts from 5 countries are meeting in Windhoek this week to discuss regional tourism initiatives for the Okavango and Zambezi Rivers in a regional context. Migratory routes of game and border management as well as sustainable tourism development by countries that share the Okavango and Zambezi Rivers are discussed. While heads of state of Angola. Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia in principle agreed on this project, a memorandum of understanding will be signed in due course. A proper secretariat will be set up. Currently there is an office in Zimbabwe for the "Ka-Za" project (Kavango-Zambezi). A holistic approach for conservation and tourism development is the overall goal, deputy tourism minister Petrus Ilonga said at the opening. The German NG InWent and Germany’s Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) are coordinating the process. |
