The Frank Fredericks Invitation Meeting will be held on 5 April at the Independence Stadium. Coca Cola is sponsoring the event to the tune of N$ 100 000.

The eight best juniors in age groups from 14 to 19 years are selected to compete at the track and field meeting in items like 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin. According to Quinton Steele-Botes, the organiser of the event, this provides a platform for athletes to prove themselves. Mr Frik oosthuizen, MD of Coca Cola, believes that the quality of their sponsorship makes this the biggest sponsorship for athletics in Namibia’s history. The sponsorship includes medals for athletes, transport, accommodation, food and t-shirts for the participants.
