WINDHOEK OPTICS RAMBLERS

Windhoek Optics Ramblers beat last season’s champions Blue Waters 3:1 at home last Sunday afternoon. It was a high quality football match with Ramblers looking very aggressive from the start. Henrico Botes put Ramblers ahead in the 15. minute when he connected onto a long ball from midfield and calmly put the ball into the back of the net. Ramblers applied more pressure, but it was Blue Waters who equalised in the 35. minute when Armando Pedro took advantage of a misunderstanding in the Ramblers defence. Blue Waters were now dominating and creating chances from long range efforts, but Ramblers goalkeeper Esau Tjiuoro made a few superb saves. Windhoek Optics Ramblers started the second half strongly again and in the 50. Minute Victor Helu provided a perfect through ball for Henrico Botes who hammered the ball past the Blue Waters keeper.

Ramblers got the winner in the 70. minute when Henrico Botes crossed the ball for Victor Helu who succeeded with a perfect header.

Final score: Windhoek Optics Ramblers 3 Blue Waters 1.

Man of the match was Henrico Botes who is now knocking seriously on the door of the Brave Warriors. Other players that excelled were Victor Helu, Michael Pienaar, Esau Tjiuoro and captain Quinton Jacobs.

Congratulations to coaches Tollie van Wyk and Dave Fransman on this fine performance!!

Windhoek Optics Ramblers has now moved to fifth position on the logstandings.

There will no matches for Windhoek Optics Ramblers this weekend.

RAMBLERS COLTS

Ramblers have entered a side in the Social League again this year.

The coach of this team is Joachim Duwe who has put together a side consisting of mainly youngsters and a few experienced Old Boys.

Last week Ramblers Colts played their first league game and beat their counterparts SKW 4:1. Diego Frans-man put Ramblers ahead in the 29th minute and winger Elton Boois increased the lead for Ramblers in the 33rd minute. Ramblers increased the score to 3:0 in the second half thanks to a SKW own goal. In the 69. minute SKW managed to score a consolation goal after a deflection. But it was Ramblers who had the final word in this game when Diego Fransman scored his second goal in the 80th minute to ensure 4:1 victory for Ramblers. Ramblers clearly dominated this game in all aspects. Goalkeeper Enwich Kazondu was outstanding for Ramblers and the experience of the Old Boys players Mark Kutzner, Mario Reiter and Lorenz von Somnitz provided an important platform for the youthful Colts side.

Congratulations to Coach Jo Duwe and the entire team in their first ever offical game!

RAMBLERS STRIDERS

Two members of Ramblers Striders did extremely well in Swakopmund on 26 February:

Andreas Angula came in fifth position in the 42km marathon in a time of 2 hours 25 min 55 sec.

Thomas Shinyenga did the 10km race and his time was 36 min. 37 sec.

Last Saturday five members of Ramblers Striders participated in the 10 km Hill Run in Eros and it was a very difficult race through the steepest hills of Eros! Here are the results:

Annemarie Martins came 2nd (!) in the section for veteran ladies in a time of 58 min. and 49 sec.

Congratulations to you on these outstanding results!!
