N$ 511 000 for Independence Celebrations Saturday 19th of March 2005 Half a million Namibia dollars of taxpayers’ monies will be used by the Windhoek municipality to contribute to this year’s independent celebrations. Municipal services like 20 busses to transport people free of charge to the Independence Stadium, 6 pit latrines and several extra dustbins set up to reduce littering on 21 March at the stadium are part of the contributions of the City. In a press statement the municipality said traffic officers and their vehicles, emergency services and providing an ambulance at the stadium on the great day were also included in the total costs of these contributions coming to N$ 511 000. Included are also special decorations in the city centre to mark the 15th anniversary. "We believe that this contribution is made in the interest of the residents and the country at large as it help to make this event a memorable one and ensure convenience to the residents of the City", the statement concluded.. |
