The Ministry of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development wishes to inform the Namibian public that it has noted with great concern the political and administrative impasses currently prevailing at the Municipality of Okahandja.

The Ministry further acknowledges receipt of correspondences on the matter from various stakeholders in the Okahandja Municipality. The Ministry is currently seized with seeking a solution to the issues pertaining to the Okahandja dispute by consulting with various stakeholders. Therefore we believe that an amicable solution to the problem will soon be joined.

The media release concluded: "In this respect, it is in the interest of this Ministry, of the Municipality, residents of Okahandja and indeed of the whole country that the situation is normalized as a matter of urgency. In the meantime, the Ministry, in particular, avails of this opportunity to appeal to all parties in Okahandja to allow for peaceful environment for delivery of services to the public while efforts to resolve the problem are underway.
