Former PS still waiting for Post Saturday 23rd of April 2005 Former permanent secretary Vicky Eerenstein-ya Toivo to the Attorney General is still in limbo and waiting to be allocated a post of similar rank after the Office of the Prime Minister finally reshuffled 6 permanent secretaries on Monday, but her name was not among them. A local daily speculated last Friday that she would be shifted to become secretary to the National Council. This has not happened yet, but the newspaper’s speculations were correct in all the other cases. This begs the question if the obvious leak from government sources to the press did not force the Prime Minister to act swiftly. Mocks Shivute of the information ministry moves to the National Planning Commission (NPC) and Samuel Goagoseb, previously at the NPC moves to home affairs, while acting PS Mwatile moves from there to the ministry of safety and security. The previous permanent secretary at home affairs, Niilo Taapopi became Chief Executive Officer of the Windhoek municipality last year. Loini Katoma, previously PS at the ministry of basic education moves to the information ministry. Vitalis Ankama of higher education takes over from Katoma at the education ministry. Mbeute ua-Njarakana whose post became defunct as the prisons ministry was dissolved, found an administrative post in the Cabinet Secretariat. The newly created ministry of youth, national service, sport and culture has not yet got a permanent secretary. The 6 officials will move into their new offices this Friday. |
