Saturday 30th of April 2005 WINDHOEK OPTICS RAMBLERS Windhoek Optics Ramblers won both games at the Independence stadium last weekend! On Friday night we faced the then logleaders Civics. In a tightly contes-ted first half no goals were scored, although there were numerous chances created by both sides. Just after half time Windhoek Optics Ramblers scored the first goal when Michael Pienaar’s header found the back of the net from a free kick. Ramblers maintained the pressure on the Civics goal and in the 60. minute youngster Tommy Kaimbi scored the second goal through a well taken volley shot after a goalmouth scramble. Immediatley thereafter Civics managed to pull one back when they scored in the 61. minute. This did not seem to shock Ramblers and in the 62. minute Victor Helu provided a perfect pass for Henrico Botes in the penalty area after a fine build up in midfield. Henrico made no mistake and calmly put the ball into the back of the net. Thereafter Ramblers dominated the game to the end, but no more goals were scored. Final score: Windhoek Optics Ramblers - Civics 3:1. In Sunday’s game against Tigers, captain Quinton Jacobs put Windhoek Optics Ramblers in the lead in the 29. minute with a phantastic volley into the top corner of the Tigers goal after he received a perfect cross from Victor Helu. This goal was a real cracker. Early in the second half Ramblers defender Richard Ndjavera scored the second goal for with a long range effort from 25 metres. Tigers then scored in the 65. minute after a good solo effort. Thereafter Tigers were looking for the equaliser and launched attack after attack on the Ramblers goal. But Windhoek Optics Ramblers goalkeeper Esau Tjiuoro was in excellent form and pulled off a few brilliant saves. In the closing minutes of the game Ramblers took the initiative again and were justly rewarded in the 88. minute when Quinton Jacobs scored his second goal with a well taken shot from close range. Well done, Quinton! Final score: Windhoek Optics Ramblers - Tigers 3:1. Windhoek Optics Ramblers is still fourth on the logstandings, but has closed the gap on the top three teams.
