Traditional dance from the Kavango will be brought to German audiences during May 2005. A group of eighteen performers will tour Germany from 2 to 19 May 2005 and give concerts in amongst others, Karlsruhe, Bad Pyrmont, Dresden and Windhoek’s twin cities of Berlin and Trossingen. The travelling costs to and from Germany are being borne by the Ministry of Education. The tour has been planned and organised by the ‘Deutsch-Namibische Gesellschaft’ (the German-Namibian Society) under the auspices of Klaus Hess. The costs of the tour in Germany (e.g. transport, accommodation) are shared by the ‘Deutsch-Namibische Gesellschaft’ and the German Foreign Office. Combined efforts once again culminating in a joint project bear witness to the fruitful co-operation between Namibia and Germany. After Namibian audiences had the opportunity to enjoy the performance of artists from Germany during the German Cultural Weeks in Namibia late last year, Namibian performers will now have the opportunity to reciprocate.
