Saturday 28th of May 2005 The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority has reduced its debt to South Africa’s power utility Eskom, from N$ 400 million to N$14,4 million. Zimbabwe imports a large amount of electricity each year from RSA, despite having the huge Kariba Dam on the Zambezi River. Its enormous debt has been accumulating over the past few years. The Zimbabwean government has also devalued its currency by 45% to curb inflation and regain the confidence of its trading partners. |
