Friday 3rd of June 2005 On Monday, 30 May 2005, the Managing Director of Namibia Wildlife Resorts, Dr. Victoria Nicodemus, presented a token of appreciation from the Board, Management and staff of NWR to the Founding President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Sam Nujoma. In appreciation of his long association with and sincere and active interest in Namibia Wildlife Resorts, Dr. Nujoma received a special "lifetime" gold pass to any of the resorts. It is well-known that the former president regularly visited especially NWR’s Terrace Bay resort over the Festive Season. Dr. Nujoma has also repeatedly visited the Waterberg Plateau Park Resort and Ai-Ais Hot Springs. Handing over the gold pass, Dr Nicodemus highlighted the support NWR had received from the Founding President during his terms of office. "You were always a welcome guest at our resorts and we took much encouragement from your active interest in our affairs", she said, adding that the former president often offered good advice and promoted the NWR resorts on his visits abroad. In addition to the "lifetime" gold pass, which entitles Dr. and Mrs Kovambo Nujoma to stay free of charge at any of the 22 resorts under NWR management, the Founding President also received a special portrait taken at the 2004 Ongwediva Trade Fair. The photo was taken after the official opening when Dr. Nujoma visited some of the stand at the Trade Fair. The photo was then enlarged to A3 format, laminated and framed. Dr. Nujoma expressed his appreciation with the gifts and said that he would continue to promote the tourism attractions of Namibia. He thanked Dr. Nicodemus and NWR for the thoughtful gesture and said he would make good use of the gold pass. |
