Sunday 19th of June 2005 Goat farmers will face a government decision of a few years ago to put a 15 percent levy on the export of life goats (bokkies) as from August 2005. The Producers Forum which consists of commercial-, communal- as well as emerging farmers already prepared a report regarding goat marketing and is in the process to liase with government in this regard, the NAU announced this week. The principle of these levies of government in order to add value locally. Against this background as well as the limited local goat market the Producers Forum will negotiate with government on the proposed levy. |
