SOCCER

Windhoek Optics Ramblers recorded their sixth and seventh consecutive wins last weekend beating Blue Waters 1:0 and Eleven Arrows 5:1 respectively. The game against Blue Waters saw Windhoek Optics Ramblers dominating the first fifteen minutes until an injury to the Blue Waters game caused an interruption of twenty minutes. Both teams battled to find the rhythm thereafter, but it was Blue Waters who produced three excellent scoring opportunities at the beginning of the second half. In the 70. minute young under 23 national player Rudi Louw scored the winner for Windhoek Optics Ramblers with a well taken header from an Ali Majiedt cross after some fine passing combinations.

On Sunday Windhoek Optics Ramblers totally outclassed Eleven Arrows and led 3:0 at half time with Henrico Botes, Nico Nicodemus and Ali Majiedt the goalscorers. In the second half eighteen year old Victor Blaauw scored his first Premier league goal for Windhoek Optics Ramblers and Henrico Botes added another goal after a fine solo effort.

Windhoek Optics Ramblers has now moved to third position on the logstandings!

The last league game was won 6:0 against Nampower with Monika Ihms(3), Didi Foerster (2) and Andrea Beiter(1) the goal-scorers. Civics B were held to a one all draw in the semi final thanks to a goal from Andrea Beiter and in the resultant sudden death penalty shoot out Nicolene Diener, Didi Foerster and Andrea Beiter scored to give Ramblers a 4:3 win. In an entertaining final the professional side of Civics A consisting of national players only beat Ramblers by 2:0.
