This Year‘s Top Score 7-a-Side Tournament at the Ramblers fields in Pionierspark was a resounding success. Not only did the men‘s teams of more than 40 companies take part, there was for the first time a ladies section (5-a-side) as well.

The tournament went into its final stage last Friday - and it was the Cymot Midas team that emerged victorious, when they beat Grinaker LTA with a suden death goal in extra time. In the 14 minutes of regulation time the teams were equal on 1-1. Grinaker opened the scoring in the second half, while the match was full of stunning saves by both goalkeepers. With only one minute left, Midas equalised. And two minutes into extra-time they scored the winning goal.

Third place went to Namibia Wildlife Resorts, who won against Namibia Breweries in their final match.

In the Ladies section, Civics beat Ramblers 2-1 to take first prize.

At the prizegiving ceremony Forra (Grinaker LTA) and Henzel Subeb (Cymot Midas) received (and had to share) the trophy for the best goal scorers. Both had scored 10 goals.

All in all this was a fantastic tournament, which was well supported by thousands of spectators each Friday. A spokesperson of the organising Club, Ramblers, indicated that the format might change a little, to bring in more ladies teams. His own club realised that the potential was there to develop a fully fledged Ramblers Ladies team.
