Saturday 25th of June 2005 The Social Security Commission (SSC) sits on a large sum of money as N$ 49,2 million are stashed away in a development fund. A small portion will now be used to train 323 unemployed youth from rural citizens in computer skills. This follows a recent Cabinet decision, the ministry of information said in a statement. Some N$ 3 million will be made available for this initial training phase. The trainees will get international certificates at the end of their training like the International Computers Drivers Licences (ICDL) and the Java Programmer Certificate. The programme will continue until 5 percent (!) or 100 000 of the Namibian population will have obtained some from of recognised ICT qualification so that the goals of the Vision 2030 development plan can be reached. |
