he second competition was held at "Thick Lip", Swakopmund, Namibia’s premier surf spot in the centre of the coastal town. The 29th of March turned out to be a flat sea, fortunately a push of swell arrived on Sunday the 30th of March at about 09h00 that lasted for three hours before going flat again. We were able to hurry the heats through this little window of 1.5 metre swell. The conditions were clean with a slight north to north westery breeze. With the onshore picking up by around 12h00.

Some of the new grommets who competed in the first competition got cold feet and decided they did not have what it takes to brave the cold Atlantic with a rubber suite and a piece of re-inforced polyurethane foam.

The Bodyboard heat was on first off and Shaun Loubser showed his international competitive edge by outclassing his opponents with some high scoring impressive manoevres. The Open and Junior heats were closely contested with Wynand Labuschagne managing to pick up the best waves of the heats and performing the most radical controlled moves in the powerzone. Anric Rottger has done well in the short time he has been in the water to win the Academy event.

The next event is scheduled for the 12th of April 2003, competitors enter the evening before at the "GET WET SURF SHOP" to decide on the venue. This will depend on tides,swell direction and period and the wind.
