SSC boss quits before Disciplinary Action Friday 23rd of September 2005 The suspended CEO of the Social Security Commission (SSC), Mr Tuli Hiveluah has quit his post, the parastatal announced on Tuesday. According to a statement from the SSC, Hiveluah already quit last week on 14 September, but it only gained knowledge of this step on Monday through the lawyers of both parties. Hiveluah was suspended last month after a controversial loan of N$ 30 million from the SSC to Avid Investments Company surfaced. The money was given without security guarantees and has disappeared. Former President Nujoma appointed Hiveluah, although a white Namibian from Walvis Bay had been appointed by the SCC board. The board had to revert on its decision by highest authority and the unhappy man sued government for millions in damages. Now the SSC has to look again for a new boss. So far 3 people were suspended at the SSC because of the Avid scandal. They are Gideon Muller and Avril Green, apart from Hiveluah. |
