Sunday 2nd of October 2005 Scientists from Angola, Namibia and South Africa are meeting in Swakopmund to discuss the ecological management of marine eco-systems along their common coastlines. While a similar feasibility study was already done of the hake sector, this year’s topics include issues regarding the horse mackerel and small pelagic sector. "We look at the eco-systems, industrial and social issues of the individual fisheries sectors to come up with guidelines for the total fishing industry", said Deon Nel, manager for marine programmes at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The workshop ends on Friday afternoon. |
