Saturday 29th of October 2005 Former deputy works and transport minister Paulus Kapia has resigned from the National Assembly with effect from 1 November 2005. Party president Sam Nujoma confirmed this after a question from a reporter at a press conference Thursday, which Nujoma had called to rant about anonymous e-mails that insulted the SWAPO leadership. Nujoma did not mention Kapia in his press statement. According to well-placed sources, the SWAPO polit buro met on Tuesday night and decided to instruct Kapia to vacate his parliamentary seat or face to be expelled from the party. Kapia apparently followed suit and sent the letter to Speaker Theo-Ben Gurirab on Wednesday. |
