The Guild of Woodwork and Allied Trades and Industries of Namibia (GWATIN), established in 1958, is one of the oldest guilds in Namibia.

Just recently another reason to get together was the artisan exam conducted on the 15th October 2005 in Windhoek.

We are very happy to announce that three (3) different companies signed up five (5) apprentices, in their fourth year, to the 2005 artisan exams.

The exams were successfully conducted, even though it was a tough day for all.

Congratulations to the three (3) apprentices and now new artisans, Mr. Thorsten Böhme from H. Jensen Bau- und Möbeltischlerei, Mr. Denver Mouton from Tischlerei Kintscher and Mr. Klaus Rapmund, from Tischlerei Bauer cc, on their success and newly achieved qualifications.

Their achievement was celebrated in the evening of the 15th October 2005 in the Bauern Stube Family Restaurant in Windhoek, along with a price giving. Mr. Böhme succeeded with the highest marks and received the GWATIN "Best Artisan Award" and the "Spannagel" sponsored and handed over by Mr. K.R. Sievers himself.

Obviously, the success of such an event depends to a large extent on the contributions of our sponsors, without whom the prestigious examinations and evening would not be possible. GWATIN would like to express honest appreciation and thank the following sponsors for their valued support and gratuitous donation (s) towards this important event to all new artisans: West Coast Joinery Suppliers, Swakopmund; WB Hardware and Building Supplies (Pty) Ltd, Swakopmund; Hüster A. Machine Tools and Windhoek Tool Center, both companies are from Windhoek. Please be assured of our heart-felt thanks!

Furthermore gratitude is expressed to all involved in teaching the apprentices, drawing up the exam papers, the examiners for their time and patience during the exams, as well as all who were involved in making the Artisan Dinner such a success.

Once more we want of thank everybody involved for the generous contribution and hard work.
