Army goes fishing

The strife of the Namibia Defence Force to become self-sufficient in food supply for its 10,000 soldiers has reached a new success. On Friday, 4 November Fisheries Minister Dr Abraham Iyambo travelled to the army headquarters at Grootfontein for the first harvest of fish at ponds established at the army base. It was not exotic for the NDF to embark on aquaculture, Dr Iyambo said, the popular tilapia fish, know as bream was a good source of fresh protein and an asset to the diet of the NDF members.
