WINDHOEK OPTICS RAMBLERS

Windhoek Optics Ramblers lost the semi-final against Orlando Pirates last Friday night after a titanic battle. The score after 90 minutes was 1:1. Orlando Pirates were leading 1:0 at halftime after a lacklustre performance by Ramblers. In the second half Ramblers pulled up their socks and dominated the game now with a lot of chances being created. It was Likeus Hafeni who managed to equalise for Ramblers in the 87. minute through a penalty. The resultant penalty shoot out was highly dramatic with Ramblers eventually losing 7:8 after Michael Pienaar missed.

On Saturday Ramblers lost the play off for third and fourth place 2:4 against Eleven Arrows. Ramblers were reduced to 10 men early in the game when young goalkeeper Diego Fransman received the red card for apparently handling the ball outside the penalty area. Despite this setback Ramblers were leading 2:1 at one stage after Bernardine Mbilizi and Ole Khiba had scored. In the last fifteen minutes of the game the wheels came off and Eleven Arrows scored three goals to win the game 4:2.

Ramblers, therefore, had to contend with the fourth place in the Humpries Security Cup.

The league finally kicks off this weekend and Ramblers will face Tigers on Saturday at 18H00 at the Independence stadium.

We look forward to an exciting season. Good luck guys!
