Zimbabwe’s government newspaper The Herald reported that the Reserve Bank is holding meetings with key stakeholders about the introduction of a new currency next year. This is designed to ease money circulation and reduce the need for higher denominated notes due to hyperinflation. If the government approves the idea, the report added, it will greatly reduce the amount of cash that people have to carry around, and might psychologically breathe new confidence into the economy. |
