The Namibia Agricultural Union (NAU (has warned farmers about cattle rustling taking place close to Windhoek. Currently there are various thefts of livestock in the Windhoek/Dordabis vicinity especially on farms adjacent to the tarred road to Dordabis. It seemed that the thieves after having slaughtered the cattle pack them into black refuse bags where after they wash themselves and change into clean, casual clothing and shoes so that they cannot be identified by the soles of their shoes. Allegedly, then the thieves hike back to Windhoek. They usually mark the road where the plastic bags with the meat are hidden and collected by a further member of the gang in the evening/at night, the NAU warned.
