The Namibian Chess Federation invited all Namibian and Foreigners to participate in the most important Chess Tournament of the country: The Windhoek Optics Open Chess Championships 2005 are hosted at the Blue Note, first floor, Armstrong Street Windhoek.

The tournament started on 17 November and ends on Sunday, 20 November. It is sponsored to the tune of N$ 7000 by Windhoek Optics. Registration fee was N$ 50 for adults and N$ 30 for children.
