Namibian retailer Model Pick ’n’ Pay opened a new store in Khomasdal’s Vaalhoek suburb on 1 December, testifying the retailer’s ambitions to build the brand and to further expand into Namibia’s communities. The store is 750 m² large and represents a capital investment of N$1.8 million. It offers all products and services of a standard Model Pick ‘n’ Pay store. Twenty permanent and 30 casual jobs have been created. A graduate from the group’s Trainee Management programme, Mr. Angelo Morkel, is set to head the store. The latest opening brings the total number of stores to 15 countrywide and comes in the wake of an extensive redevelopment of the group’s flagship store in Wernhil Park Shopping Centre, according to O&L spokesperson Patrick Hashingola.
