On Wednesday, the Municipality of Swakopmund received a new Rescue Vehicle valued at N$408 000 from Pupkewitz Nissan after the company won the tender to supply the vehicle. Speaking at the handing over, Mr Tony Möller, Chief Fire Officer, said that the vehicle would replace an existing vehicle which did not comply with all aspects. He added that the vehicle would be utilized in all aspects of rescue in the Erongo Region, especially on the national roads leading to Swakopmund. The Mayor of Swakopmund, Councillor Rosina //Hoabes said at the occasion that the vehicle is proof of Council’s commitment towards providing the community of Swakopmund with the best equipment to fight fires and to rescue those in need of assistance throughout the region. The Swakopmund Fire Brigade is a voluntary fire brigade supported by the Swakopmund Municipal Council and it is envisaged that it would become a permanent brigade in the near future.
