It was a day of joy for the Maritz family, when former high court judge Gerhard Maritz was sworn in as permanent judge of appeal at the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Maritz was born in 1953 and became acting judge of the High Court in 1999 and of the Supreme Court in 2003. Now he is there permanently at quite a young age.
