Sunday 19th of February 2006 All fixed phones will be cut off in the are of the Maerua Mall shopping centre this Saturday. All business customers will be cut-over to the new equipment on Saturday, 18 February from 22h00 until Sunday morining, 19 February at 10h00. All fixed-line services to and from the Maerua Mall business complex will be affected by the interruption, Telecom Namibia an-nounced. Telecom has just completed a major project to increase the capacity and robustness of telecommunications services at the Maerua Mall business complex in Windhoek. In view of the planned opening of new businesses at Maerua next month, Telecom Namibia has installed new equipment to meet the need for increased capacity and enhanced operational robustness of their telecommunications network within the business complex. All ATM services will be out of order for the 12-hour period. Likewise, any electronic transaction at speed-points will also not be possible during the period of interruption. Mobile cellular telephone calls, however, will not be affected by this interruption, said Oiva Angula, communications officer at Telecom. |
