Ramblers

Ramblers won both games last weekend in convincing fashion and moved to second place on the logstandings!

Last Friday night Ramblers faced Black Africa in a game played at the Sam Nujoma stadium in Katutura. The first half was a dull affair with both teams creating very few chances.

The second half saw a Black Africa player being red carded after he lashed out at Victor Helu.

With Ramblers now applying the pressure it was striker Tommy Kaimbi who put Ramblers ahead in the 59. minute when he put a cross from Naka Shimwino into the back of the BA net. Tommy Kaimbi scored his seventh goal of the season when he scored with a well taken header after a header in the 78. minute. Black Africa managed to score a consolation goal in the 83. minute. Ramblers defended bravely in the final minutes of the game and goalkeeper Esau Tjiuoro, sweeper Michael Pienaar and defensive midfielder Bernardine M’bilizi stood out in this process.

In the end it was a well deserved 2:1 victory for Ramblers who were cheered on throughout the game by their excited fans.

On Sunday Ramblers faced Touch & Go in Tsumeb and beat them 7:1. This was sweet revenge for the first round defeat in last year’s FNB Cup. Ramblers goalscorers on the day were Tommy Kaimbi(2), John Samson(2), Ole Khiba(2) as well as captain Michael Pienaar.

The first round of the season has now been completed and after a poor start to the season Ramblers are now in a very commanding second spot on the logstandings.

Congratulations to the whole team on a super effort and let’s keep the momentum going for the second round!!

This weekend the second round of the NFA Cup will be played and we face African Stars on Sunday at 14H00 at Keetmanshoop. The team will leave on Saturday already.

Good luck guys!!
