Spanish fishing giant PescaNova will enlarge its fish factory operations in Namibia by investing a staggering N$ 800 million, despite illegal strikes, an unfavourable exchange rate and increasing fuel costs. The company’s president Manuel Fernandez Sousa informed President Hifikepunye Pohamba about this investment on Wednesday. Sousa is in the country this week to be in Namibia while Spanish fisheries minister Elena Espinosa also visited the country form Monday to Wednesday. Sousa paid a courtesy call to Pohamba at State House together with Angel Tordesillas, chairman of the Namibian and South African operations of the PescaNova group. Spanish minister Espinosa visited Lüderitz and Walvis Bay and familiarised herself with Spanish fishing companies operating in Namibia.
