Monday 20th of March 2006 Walvis Bay There will be official Independence Day celebrations in Walvis Bay at the Kuisebmond Stadium on Tuesday morning, the 21 March. The festivities will start at 09h30 and the Mayor will also be present. The Minister of Health and Social Services Richard Kamwi will be the keynote speaker. After the official proceedings, sports events will take place. However, the Walvis Bay municipality only started to invites cultural groups and sports clubs on Thursday, 15 March to participate. There are no entrance fees involved to take part in the Independence Day festivities. Swakopmund The celebrations for Independence Day take place at the Mondesa soccer field and will be attended by Mayroress Rosina Hoebes and Deputy Prime Minister Libertine Amathila. 09h30 – Arrival of guests 10h00 – National Anthem, prayer and welcome 10h20 – Cultural groups 10h30 – Speech of Dr Libertine Amathila 11h00 – Cultural groups 11h30 – Soccer and other sport activities until afternoon
Windhoek The independence celebrations for the Khomas region take place in the Independence Stadium in Windhoek and president Hifikepunye Pohamba is expected to attend. 09h00 – Arrival of guests and diplomats 09h30 - Arrival of ministers and MPs 10h00 – Start of Programme with national anthem, prayers, a parade and welcome 11h00 – Message of Pres. Pohamba 11h30 – Parade marches off and end of formal programme 12h00 – Soccer match 13h30 – Lunch 13h30 - Entertainment Omaheke Region The official Independence celebrations will take place on the Farm Chaka-Ben Hur in the Kalahari constituency some 50 km southwest of Gobabis.
