There will be official Independence Day celebrations in Walvis Bay at the Kuisebmond Stadium on Tuesday morning, the 21 March. The festivities will start at 09h30 and the Mayor will also be present. The Minister of Health and Social Services Richard Kamwi will be the keynote speaker. After the official proceedings, sports events will take place. However, the Walvis Bay municipality only started to invites cultural groups and sports clubs on Thursday, 15 March to participate. There are no entrance fees involved to take part in the Independence Day festivities.

The celebrations for Independence Day take place at the Mondesa soccer field and will be attended by Mayroress Rosina Hoebes and Deputy Prime Minister Libertine Amathila.

The independence celebrations for the Khomas region take place in the Independence Stadium in Windhoek and president Hifikepunye Pohamba is expected to attend.
