Friday 9th of May 2003 LADIES SOCCER Our ladies soccer team had a dream debut in the tournament hosted by the Khomas Women Football Association on 26 April. All four games on the road to the final were won in most convincing fashion. In the final we came up against the professional Unam Civics side who beat us 4:0. Most importantly though, the groundwork has been laid for a new era in Ramblers football and N$ 500 have been won in the process. PREMIER LEAGUE SOCCER Windhoek Optics Ramblers drew both games against Benfica and Oshakati City on 26/27 April and returned home safely from the North. We are still in fourth position on the logstandings. This weekend the final round of the Namib Premier League will be played and the programme is as follows: Saturday, 15HOO at Ramblers: Windhoek Optics Ramblers vs Liverpool Last Sunday our team lost 1:3 against Civics in the quarter final of the prestigious NFA Cup played at the Kuisebmond stadium. SOCIAL SOCCER LEAGUE Our development team lost their crucial league game at home against last year’s league winners, SKW I by three goals to seven last Monday night. SKW were leading 3:0 after fifteen minutes and Giuseppe Calabrese was sent off after twenty minutes. This cost Ramblers dearly. Although Charlie Shikeso pulled one back for Ramblers just before half time and Jomo Khaiseb scored just after half time, in the end SKW’s superior fitness and good motivation paid off and they were rewarded with another four goals. The extra man for SKW was clearly felt. Michael Pienaar who played his first match after six weeks due to an injury scored a late consolation goal for Ramblers. This game should serve as a lesson to Ramblers. This Friday night we are playing Cymot at home at 19H00. Good luck guys! OLD BOYS The Germany Tour gets finally underway on Tuesday, 13 May. We will be visiting old friends in Traisa near Darmstadt to start off, thereafter travel to Harbach where we will also meet old acquaintances. The next stop is then Lüneburg where ex Ramblers player Martin Wilke will be our host. Thereafter the big cities of Hamburg and Berlin will be visited before we link up with our good old friend Eckhard Nold who will be our host on our final destination in Unterdarching near München. In total six friendly soccer matches will be played. We wish everyone good luck, a lot of fun and most importantly may you all be worthy ambassadors of our country and club. VIP CLUB The weekly jackpot still stands at N$ 500 as Spargel Spangehl was not at the Club last Friday night when his number was drawn. The last monthly draw on Friday, 26 April night produced the following winners: Jackpot prize N$250 Not claimed 3rd prize N$500 Jeff Marting 2nd prize N$750 Fritz Kaufmann 1st prize N$2,000 Gerd Schonecke Congratulations to all of you! |
