For the fifth time the annual Overberg Coastal Bridge Tournament will be held in Swakopmund - on the weekend the 17th/18th May ( NOT JUNE !! ) 2003. Here enthusiasts of the game from all parts of Namibia will again swell the ranks of the local Swakopmund fraternity, to once again test their skills in a competitive environment. This is the first of the three Namibian annual national tournaments for the year 2003 - the two to follow in Omaruru in July and the Windhoek Bridge Congress in October.

Venue is again the Masonic Hall, with the first session of play scheduled for Saturday 17th from 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm, after which participants and guests will be able to enjoy tastefully prepared evening snacks.

Sunday the 18th will see the continuation of play from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, followed by the prizegiving and a hearty Sunday lunch.

At stake for the winning pair is the coveted Lang-Godl Shield floating trophy, sponsored by Lanco Construction and Hotel Dig-By-See, both of Swakopmund. Last year the Shield was won (again) by a pair from Windhoek - the (unfortunately) ex-Namibian star player Arun Kannan with (fortunately non-ex!) partner Joy Howes. The quality of play over the past year of challengers from other parts of the country has been rising steadily - most notably amongst players of the Omaruru/Otjiwarongo fraternity. The master Arun Kannan has unfortunately left Namibia, so others are sharpening their skills and knocking at the door -

the pair of Allan and Domi from Windhoek are front-runners, how will it end? Proud main sponsors of the tournament are again the OVERBERG FISHING COMPANY of Walvis Bay - other sponsors are DISTELL NAMIBIA, also of Walvis Bay.

Again the most astute and (as is at the end of the day) most consistent participants at the tournament will walk away with top honours - all participants are preparing themselves for an enthralling and stimulating bridge week-end at the coast.
