The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) will join the rest of the world in commemorating World Health Day this Friday. The theme for 2006 is "Working Together for Health" under which Namibia has adopted the slogan "Towards attainment of motivated and empowered health workforce for sustainable health care delivery" as the main focus.

World Health Day is the annual flagship event of the WHO. Since 1950, it is held each year on 07 April to raise awareness of specific global health issues. As part of this commemoration, the MoHSS is organising the day. Various activities have been lined up for the day including recognition and awarding of long service certificates to the staff members. On this day, the WHO World Health Report 2006 will also be launched globally.

World Health Day will be officiated by President Hifikepunye Pohamba in Windhoek at the UN Plaza in Katutura on Friday, 7 April at 9h30.
