Three foreign farm owners take govt to court Saturday 22nd of April 2006 So far, 3 court applications have been filed against the Namibian government by foreign landowners, Justice Minister Pendukeni Ivula-Ithana told the Parliament on Wednesday. In her 46-page budget speech to motivate the allocation for her ministry, Ithana said the owners are Gunter Keßl, Martin Josef Reidmaier and Adolf Herburger of farm Heimaterde, all German nationals and apparently "absentee landlords". Preparations are at an advanced stage", Ithana said. PLUS has reliably learnt that Gunter Keßl owns the farms Groß Ozombotu (No 124) and Okozungutu (No 100). The name of the farm owned by Mr Reidmaier (possibly Riedmaier) could not be established. According to information of PLUS, a Namibian citizen, Mrs Heidi Lacheiner-Kuhn is also considering court action, but for a different reason: She did not contest the expropriation but the price offered by Government. The case is pending with a next court date set for 9 May. |
