Land tax payable by 31July

The ministry of finance currently is busy sending the land tax assessments for the 2006/07 financial year to farmers. This tax is payable on or before July 31, 2006. Payment can be done the same as last year, namely at any income tax office as well as at all magistrate offices, the Namibia Agricultural Union (NAU) has said. Farmers should however, make sure they get receipts when making payments. Any enquiries regarding the land tax should be addressed to the ministry of lands at tel 061-296-5000.

Long Distance Mass Charge starts 1 June

The Road Fund Administration says the implementation date of 1 April for the controversial long distance mass charge (MDC) for commercial vehicles will change to 1 June as a result of a "technical error" with the notice in the Gazette on the implementation of the MDC. This regards the issue that the MDC is payable with the license fee to obtain the license disc. The RFA will refund 100% of the MDC for vehicles that registered during March and April within 3 days after proof of payment and the bank details of the vehicle owner are received. For further information, Mr A Loftie-Eaton can be contacted at Tel 061 378962.
