EU ambassador Antonius Brüser gave a large reception on Tuesday, to celebrate Europe Day on May 9. Some 5 decades ago Robert Schuman, then French foreign minister proposed European integration as the way to secure peace and build prosperity in post-war Europe. His proposals laid the foundations for the European Union, so 9 May is celebrated annually as the EU birthday. Ambassador Brüser and his spouse will leave Namibia in July after 4 years.
