Results of the KPMG Junior Tennis Tournament that was held in Windhoek during the weekend of 12 and 13 May 2006.

The Tennis tournament was a huge success with the participants from all over Namibia. The players in the younger age groups are showing a massive force of strong talent coming through, especially as a result of the NTA’s FNB Development Pro-gramme. Youngsters such as Melissa Khupe, Eloise du Plooy, Veja Hinda and Janneck Palmhert in the Under 10 section with Frida Mukufa from Windhoek and Carita Moolman all the way from Aranos joining the very talented Francois Muller and Tuki Jacobs in the Under 14 section show that there are quite a few Namibian youngsters heading for junior Wimbledon! Adding the unbeatable blond Swakopmunder Meikke Woermann in the Under 14 girls section together with the Under 14 boys Johan Janse van Vuuren and Jonathan Edmunds, Namibia can look forward to exciting tennis results in future! The results show that there were not many contestants in the Under 16 and Under 18 groups, especially among the girls and this may be due to the school holidays.

It is common knowledge that Namibians need to encourage each other across business, political and sporting sectors to ensure that we build a future generation of great leaders for tomorrow."

Boys singles: Veja Hinda beats Janneck Palmhert 4 / 6, 6 /1, 6 / 4.

Girls doubles: Sedi Jacobs and Lise Moolman beat Hanna van der Waal and Melissa Khupe 6 / 3, 2 / 6, 6 / 4.

Boys doubles: Veja Hinda and Francois Rautenbach beat Kai-Uwe Brettschneider and David Edmunds 6 / 3, 6/ 2.

Girls singles: Carita Moolman beat Frida Mukufa 6 / 1, 6 / 0.

Boys singles: Francois Muller beat Tuki Jacobs 6 / 1, 4 / 6, 6 / 2.

Girls doubles: Carita Moolman and Frieda Mukufa beat Christiana Schukmann and Ndeshipanda David 6 / 0, 6 / 3.

Boys doubles: Francois Muller and Aiden Mautschke beat Uno Hinda and Tuki Jacobs 6 / 4, 7 / 5.

Girls singles: Meikke Woermann beat Kerstin Gressmann 6 / 2, 6 / 0.

Boys singles: Johan Janse van Vuuren beat Jonathan Edmunds with a score of 6 / 4 in the third set

Girsl doubles: Meikke Woermann & Lerè Nieuwoudt beat Kerstin Gressmann & Danielle Zimny 6 / 4, 6 / 1.

Boys doubles: Zandre Duvenage and Johan Janse van Vuuren beat Jonathan Edmunds en Reuben Williams 8 / 7 (Pro set due to time limit)
