The Namibian government has stopped all auctions of cattle and other livestock, which is valuable for breeding in the communal farming areas. According to the latest Cabinet decision, such valuable livestock like breeding bulls were bought by butchers at auctions and they just slaughtered them and sold the meat or sold them directly to MEATCO for slaughter. The ministry of agriculture is now tasked to sell breeding material directly to small communal farmers at "government book value" to avoid the valuable livestock to land in the butcheries.
