President Sam Nujoma officially opened the brand new and modern head office of Ongopolo Mining in Tsumeb on Wednesday. While his ancestors had for many generations taken "ongopolo" (copper ore) from the area to make arrows, spears and axes, the new conman established in September 2000 after the collapse of Tsumeb Corporation (TCL), had progressed well. Nujoma urged the workers and Ongo-polo management "to embrace each other" and as a united team work hard to contribute to the Namibian economy. The same day Nujoma inaugurated the Ondundu Community Agricultural Programme on a farm near Tsumeb and established by Ongopolo. On that farm, residents are trained to produce cash crops and how to farm commercially, thus earning their own income.
