Foreign affairs minister Hidipo Hamutenya has agreed to become the patron for a support and fundraising campaign to collect money for the new Katutura sports stadium. Earthmoving works for the N$ 46 million project were completed and the tender for construction will be allotted at the end of June. According to the CEO of the Windhoek municipality, Mr Martin Shipanga the project was 2 weeks ahead of schedule. The City needed financial assistance and so far, "not a single business" in the country had agreed to support the new stadium. He called on the private sector to donate money to lessen the financial burden of the municipality with regard to the project.

The first soccer match is to kick off in early 2005 in the new sports complex.
