Rössing’s New Chief Financial Officer Friday 26th of May 2006
Rössing is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter Carlson to the role of Chief Financial Officer of Rössing Uranium Limited. Mr Carlson, who is a Chartered Accountant with extensive business experience in Namibia, will join Rössing on the 1st June 2006. Mr Carlson’s career commenced ten days after writing matric in December 1976, as a trainee GD 120 drill operator at Rössing. One month later he was promoted to the Open Pit offices and two months later he was promoted to the position of Open Pit Controller. He applied for financial assistance and was awarded a bursary to study commerce and accounting at the University of the Western Cape. Traineeship through a contract of articles followed for the next three years at Coopers and Lybrand in Windhoek (now PriceWater-houseCoopers). During this period he enrolled at Unisa and obtained a second degree in accounting science, B. Compt. His bursary obligations at Rössing covered the period 1984 to 1987 during which period he was employed as an Assignment Accountant and later as Systems Development Accountant. After completion of the bursary obligations he resigned and enrolled for an honours degree in Financial and Investment Management at the UWC, and followed it up with a honours in accounting science through Unisa. In 1990 Mr Carlson started an accounting and management consulting practice which developed into one of the larger accounting and auditing practices in Namibia, currently known as Grand Namibia, Chartered Accountants and Auditors. The national bulk water supplier, NamWater, appointed Mr Carlson on a fulltime basis as financial management consultant to the then newly appointed CEO for the period until April 2004, and thereafter as Chief Financial Officer of the corporation, a position that he currently holds. We welcome Mr Carlson back to Rössing at this exciting time for uranium businesses. |
