The August 26 Holding Company of the Namibian Defence Force will establish a shoe factory at Okahandja soon to manufacture its own army boots and those for the police force. Cabinet gave the go ahead and noted that N$ 5,3 million are needed to set it up. According to the latest Cabinet briefing, the subsidiary will be known as August 26 Shoe Factory (Pty) Ltd and is a "tripartite venture between the ministry of defence, August 26 Holdings and the Czech government". The Czech Republic donated shoe-manufacturing equipment for the new venture. August 26 owns the Windhoeker Maschinenfabrik (WMF) and a diamond company in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
